1. PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP & SERVICE

It is no secret that I am passionate about Powder Springs, its people, families, and community.  My “why” is rooted in a simple truth: I believe in this city. I believe in its people, its potential, and its promise. I’ve spent over a decade helping to guide responsible growth and planning as part of our city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and the Development Authority of Powder Springs. I’ve seen firsthand how thoughtful leadership—grounded in listening, compassion, and vision—can shape a stronger city for all of us.

For the past 20 years, Powder Springs has been more than just the place I call home—it’s been the heart of my family, my faith, and my service. I’ve raised my children here. I’ve coached youth sports at our local parks, worshipped alongside friends and neighbors, and worked shoulder to shoulder with residents, planners, and city leaders to help move our city forward.

As we grow, Powder Springs will always be a city of  many voices, offering diverse opinions and creative ideas to consider as we develop strategies and solutions for our future. My goal is to encourage those on the margins to meet in the middle.  By this I mean that Council members, city staff, residents, and businesses must come together to work productively in public forums and daily activities. I firmly believe that by working together, we can draw out  the best solutions from our diversity to build a better Powder Springs for everyone.

Now, I’m ready to do even more.  I want to represent Ward 1 on the Powder Springs City Council because I understand what it means to care deeply and act boldly. I will serve with integrity and cooperation with the mayor and other members of city council . Whether it’s advocating for smarter development, supporting small businesses, investing in safe neighborhoods, or making sure every voice is heard, I’m committed to doing the work that matters. That’s why I’m respectfully asking for your vote in the November 2025 municipal election.

2. EXPANDED PUBLIC SAFETY & ACCESSIBLE CITY SERVICES

Like you, I place high value on Public Safety services including police, fire, EMTs, sanitation,  and other essential city services. I encourage more community outreach to ensure safety-first policies for all Powder Springs citizens and to build teamwork between citizens and police to reduce crime. I support our police officers dedicated to protecting us. We must have adequate funding, 24-7 patrol, and staff training for our critical first responders and essential functions to keep our families and neighborhoods safe.

More than a decade ago, Powder Springs was impacted by significant flooding.  Emergency planning and preparedness are necessary to protect our city, its residents, and local businesses. I will work to strengthen relationships with local and state disaster response agencies so that Powder Springs needs are fully covered.

Keeping up with fast-paced growth is challenging with lean city staffing.  Powder Springs must adopt a continuous improvement outlook to provide responsive, well-run essential services, secure and ready for unexpected events.  We must give city workers the respect they deserve by offering competitive compensation, professional development, and fair policies to address their concerns.  We must invest in technology tools and update equipment to work securely, budget efficiently, and engage regularly with our communities.

3. SMART GROWTH & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Powder Springs’ future growth will be managed in a complex environment -- one which will require leaders to bring practical experience and common-sense perspectives to balance commercial opportunities and residential planning -- so that Powder Springs can continue to be a welcoming place to live and work.

Sensible initiatives and careful decisions protect taxpayers and serve the public interest,  while attracting sustainable economic investment.  As such, we will be challenged to compete strategically with neighboring cities as they step up their games for the same economic resources that we seek to sustain growth in Powder Springs. I will continue to support a responsible pro-growth approach, while ensuring that our city’s infrastructure is sufficient and sustainable for the foreseeable future.

I firmly advocate forward-thinking planning and zoning to make the best use of our land because land will always be limited. Presently, Powder Springs has a strong competitive advantage with acres of underdeveloped land -- some of it located within Ward 1.   Annexation enables commercial and residential expansion.  But each annexation opportunity requires careful consideration to stay in step with our capability to provide adequate infrastructure, maintain public safety, and deliver city services within our means.

Roadways that connect our homes to work, school, shopping, medical services are also valuable assets linking Powder Springs with air and rail systems, giving us transit advantages attractive to distribution, commerce, and supply chain industries.   Maintaining and improving our transit infrastructure is vital to a prosperous future.

The Development Authority of Powder Springs (DAPS) and Planning and Zoning Commission on which I have served, The Downtown Development Authority (DDA), and the city’s economic and community development staff are valuable resources to attract growth opportunities and to encourage local entrepreneurship --  all of which are essential to Powder Springs becoming a well-rounded, thriving city for its residents and businesses.

4. RESIDENTIAL & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

With fast-paced growth, it is always smart to pause from time to time to fully assess where we are heading and how best to get there.  We must also be true to what we are.  For much of the past fifty years, Powder Springs has been a bedroom community of metro-Atlanta, a place of safe, quiet neighborhoods and community values.  Like you, these are qualities I desire, respect, and will work to preserve.

Quality neighborhoods should always be a top city priority. Homeowners’ rights matter, building standards matter, and accountability matters. When landlords and homeowners do not take their property responsibilities seriously, we must act to protect the community qualities that attracted us to live and raise our families in Powder Springs. I believe that city code enforcement is an effective means of protecting property values when needed.

Our greenways, public trails and proximity to the Silver Comet Trail are unique city features defining Powder Springs.  Neighborhood walkability, trail connections, and natural beautification make our lives better.  Let’s keep Powder Springs beautiful by removing blighted, abandoned properties, removing illegal dumpsites, and  maintaining our city’s attractive trails and green spaces.
